There is a little string of chic mid-century homes along Solar Drive, the short spur at the top of Nichols Canyon. In January, the Warshawsky Residency (1961) by Volker Traub was sold for $890,000. The essence of the design, though, has been preserved as you’ll see in these photos. Here, an expansive living room is bright and the triangle panes of glass where wall meets the butterfly ceiling are a wonderful touch.

One of my favorite features of the house is the massive fireplace that's centered between the living room and dining area.
