Val Powelson’s 1960 “Sunbow House”

There is a little string of chic mid-century homes along Solar Drive, the short spur at the top of Nichols Canyon. In January, the Warshawsky Residency (1961) by Volker Traub was sold for $890,000. Although that needed quite a bit of updating, it was still a terrific price. Now, right next door, is the “Sunbow House”, by Val Powelson. This home has a lot of “cool” factor going for it, not the least of which is the “butterfly roof” design.
